Samsung Galaxy S21 FE | Latest Addition To Samsung's Crowded Midrange Lineup

The Galaxy S21 FE has finally been revealed by Samsung. This gadget, like the 2020 Galaxy S20 FE, has most of the flagship-level specs of the Galaxy S21, including a Snapdragon 888 processor and 120Hz display, but for a lesser price: $699 for the 128GB basic model.

With a roughly midrange pricing and a compelling upper-midrange choice in the Galaxy A52 5G, the S21 is yet another addition to Samsung's already crowded inventory.

Further Details

The Galaxy S21 FE has a 6.4-inch display, which is somewhat bigger than the 6.2-inch panel on the S21. Aside from the size difference, the S21 FE and the S21 have a lot in common. Like the S21, it has a 1080p OLED panel with 120Hz. The camera hump blends into the phone's side rails, and the design language is constant.

The FE has the same 12-megapixel f/1.8 primary camera with optical stabilisation as the S21 and a flagship-worthy 5nm CPU (Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 in the US, Samsung's own Exynos abroad). It even outperforms the S21 in terms of battery capacity, having a 4,500mAh cell over the S21's 4,000mAh (though its slightly bigger screen likely evens out battery performance). The S21's fast 25W wired charging, 15W wireless charging, IP68 weather resistance, and both flavours of 5G (sub6-GHz and superfast mmWave) are all retained.

With the exception of a slight latency in the camera's portrait mode live preview, overall performance, as well as design, feels flagship-worthy. The device can easily carry out tasks such as SMS backup without trouble. It is worth mentioning there's no charger included in the package, which is also a flagship feature these days.

Summing Up

It's a bit perplexing to release numerous smartphones in a short amount of time, but it's not a new tactic for Samsung. Samsung is taking this "a phone for every price point" strategy because it can, according to sources. It's also particularly effective at mixing and combining features at different price points, and its cheap and midrange phones are impossible to beat thanks to a robust support policy that backs up most of their gadgets. Samsung is cutting another slice into a market that it is happy shaving thinner and thinner with the S21 FE.
