Apple's MagSafe Wallet Now Compatible For Find My Location Tracking

Apple‘s “California Streaming” event unveiled some quite new interesting products. The company finally shed some light on the iPhone 13 and introduced covers and accessories that are now available for the device. The Silicon Valley-based tech cooperation also announced a new MagSafe Wallet that now works with the Find My app and network.

Upgraded MagSafe Wallet

The company released an upgraded version of its MagSafe leather wallet with new colors ( Golden Brown, Dark Cherry, Sequoia Green, Midnight, and Wisteria) and support for a new feature: tracking in the Find My app. Apple recently expanded its location tracking service with the addition of AirTags, and now it appears that the company is working on incorporating some form of the same capability into its more low-tech accessories.

That may appear to be the constant tracking that AirTags provides, but Apple's description suggests something more straightforward. The wallet "supports Find My, so you may be notified of your wallet's last known location if it gets separated from your phone," according to the business. This is useful, however, it may not be so beneficial if your wallet is moved after it has been separated.

Furthermore, the new Find My feature is not supported on the Clear Case with MagSafe, according to Apple. The best bet is that a Clear Case will block whatever unique ID your iPhone detects when you attach a MagSafe device. It's unclear why the Clear Case, but not other MagSafe cases, prevents Apple from detecting when a wallet is detached. That doesn't necessarily make the new wallet less helpful, but it does demonstrate that it has constraints that a regular wallet with an AirTag or Tile stuffed inside wouldn't have.

Summing Up

While we are certain that the iPhone 13 won’t disappoint and will be able to carry out tasks such as iOS transfers with ease, we are a bit hazy on the details of how this function works. We’ll have to wait for further explanation by the tech company to decide how much of help this upgrade is.
